Wine Education in Porto and North Portugal
The wine production and the culture in this field is known today as a highly technological and growing science which depends on the continuous exchanges between academics, the universities and the wine producers.
From the choice of the soils, the grapes harvesting, the production, the ageing and the bottling of the wines, viticulture and oenology assume today a major role in the development of the wine economy in the North of Portugal.
It is this modern oenology, supported by constant research and investment in technology, together with the knowledge of experts coming for Portuguese universities, which has contributed to the continuous improvement of the quality of the wines produced in the North of Portugal.
Several Universities and Institutes on the North of Portugal have Oenology and Wine Tourism on its curricula.
