In a tightly contested category, the judges decided to award join winners in the Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices category for Adelaide in 2022 Best of Wine Tourism Awards. Banrock Station, a large corporate winery, and Gemtree Wines, a small family run operation, have achieved true excellence in sustainability. On Banrock Station, the judges noted “the work to preserve the Murray River Wetlands, and integrate them into the winery experience, is the result of over 20 years of effort”. On Gemtree Wines, they said the company is an “industry leader and constant innovate”, noting especially the addition of Aboriginal cultural experiences into their wine tourism offerings.
