Villa Petriolo in Cerreto Guidi belonged for many years to the Alessandri family, then it was purchased by the Maestrelli family in 1960 and today Silvia considers Villa Petriolo a place where the creativity of young artists could find its expression, together with the ancient art of “making wine”, to which she commits herself in order to produce high quality wines. In 2008 Villa Petriolo, with the Patronage of the Tuscan region and other important bodies, has announced the second edition of the literary award “The days of wine and roses”. The award was created in 2007 to promote unpublished works of Italian and foreign authors, written in Italian and centred on Wine. In 2009 they wanted to give the award an international diffusion. The purpose is to explore in a creative way the relationships among wine, economy, landscape, marketing and history. The literary award is oriented towards the promotion and the valorisation of the area in which the wine is produced, the Montalbano hills.
