Wine and Art
The long and careful processes that characterize the wine making is similar to the gestation of an artistic work. We believe in the task of cultivating the land as much as in the value of "cultivating the spirit".
The art of cycles, the art of sowing, the art of harvest, the art of expressing through images those experiences, closes a virtuous circle, where each human experience is synthesized.
For us, the wine culture is that synthesis. With those certainties, and with the passion that we start to walk in each of these experiences, we opened 15 years the doors of our cellar, so that to host the productions of the visual artists of this land.
Mendocinians and tourists have the possibility of admire the work done on various materials and techniques: sculptures, engravings, ceramics, drawings, photographs, objects and installations.
Cava of Art
From the year 2003, to the present, the Cava of Art of Bodega Santa Julia is the space where mendocinian art is promoted and diffused. The most renowned painters, sculptors, draughtsmen, potters and engravers from Mendoza have exhibited in this Cava that has an agenda of exhibitions held continuously since 15 years ago.
In this way, visitors can admire local art, giving them the opportunity to see works of art from extraordinary qualities.
The changes of the artworks of the Cava de Arte are made four times a year and more than fifty artists have already shown their works.
Entrance is free, consequently hundreds of tourists and local public visit it throughout the year.
The Hall of the Masters
The Hall of the Masters is a permanent exhibition space, in which you can appreciate a brief visual anthology of the main plastic works carried out in Mendoza during the first half of the 20th century.
The space has paintings by five of the most representative artists of that time: Roberto Azzoni, Fidel De Lucia, Fidel Roig Matons and Ramón Zubirats. Also, an original painting of one of the most relevant contemporary artists that gave this land: Carlos Alonso.
The initiative aims to bring this valuable chapter of Argentine art to the public who visits us. It is our tribute to the contribution of the great masters who made visible and consolidated the local art, opening roads for future generations.
Harvest of Artists
As it is already a tradition in the local artistic milieu, the ritual for the gestation of each edition of the exhibition "Harvest of Artists" begins at times of harvest, when artists are summoned to participate in a typical working day between vineyards of which they extract the grapes with which the wine produced by the winery is made.
There converge outstanding artists of the local artistic circle, some with extensive trajectory, other talented young people, who share a day between vineyards and a friendly lunch. This is a ritual of art where grapes are the protagonists, as well as a moment of celebration for the year of work and hoping the beginning of a new and productive cycle for the art of Mendoza.
After the shared day, comes the period of creation, inspired by what was experienced during the day of harvest. Each one of the works created especially for the occasion conforms the shows "Harvest of Artists" which includes works produced in various techniques and formats: drawing, sculptures, paintings, engravings and ceramics in which the theme is always the wine.
