Museu & Enoteca 17.56

Regional Winner - Art and Culture - Porto

Real Companhia Velha’s Museum (Museu da 1ª Demarcação- Museum of the Oldest Appellation in the World), First Demarcated and Regulated Region of the World, has the mission of sharing with the general public the precious documentary and art collection, collected and preserved for more than 260 years, in line with the centuries-old history of a region today recognized as a World Heritage Site. This museum has several areas: the reception, the permanent exhibition, a tasting room and a wine shop. It intends to promote and disseminate the history and culture of Port Wine, which the Company helped to build in a matrix. All this knowledge is transmitted by an intelligible, didactic and appealing museological discourse enabling the visitors to be immersed on the themes addressed.

Housed in the 17.56 Museu & Enoteca space belonging to Real Companhia Velha, it stands out as a new cultural landmark of the city of Vila Nova de Gaia.
