Climate / Geography
Entre-Deux-Mers is a vast region which looks like a triangle limited to
the north by the Dordogne river, to the south west by the Garonne river
and to the south east by the administrative limit of the department of the
Gironde.
The Entre-Deux-Mers region is a mosaic of exceptional soils (sandy,
clayey, clay-limestone, gravely), and its topography produces very
different wines.
Types of wine / Grapes
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are blended in varying
proportions to make red and rosés wines. The red wines are generally
powerful, concentrated and aromatic. Wines made from vines growing on
hills overlooking the Garonne river are particularly elegant.
As for dry white wines, the uncontested king is Sauvignon Blanc, which
is ideal for making dry, crisp and aromatic wines. Sweet white wines are
made of Sémillon and Muscadelle.
