Entre-Deux-Mers

The Entre-Deux-Mers is the vastest vineyard of the Bordelais. The area situated between the Garonne and the Dordogne, owes its name to the fact that these two mighty rivers, influenced by the Atlantic tides, are considered as two inland seas. It is one of the most attractive regions in the Gironde department, with its hilly landscapes, lush valleys and abbeys. Charming roads beckon visitors to take a trip from the outskirts of the city of Bordeaux as far as the border with the Lot-et-Garonne.

Climate / Geography

Entre-Deux-Mers is a vast region which looks like a triangle limited to the north by the Dordogne river, to the south west by the Garonne river and to the south east by the administrative limit of the department of the Gironde.
The Entre-Deux-Mers region is a mosaic of exceptional soils (sandy, clayey, clay-limestone, gravely), and its topography produces very different wines.

Types of wine / Grapes

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are blended in varying proportions to make red and rosés wines. The red wines are generally powerful, concentrated and aromatic. Wines made from vines growing on hills overlooking the Garonne river are particularly elegant.

As for dry white wines, the uncontested king is Sauvignon Blanc, which is ideal for making dry, crisp and aromatic wines. Sweet white wines are made of Sémillon and Muscadelle.
