small and the emphasis is on the quality of its wines. It is only 20
minutes from Cape Town’s city centre.
Types of Wine/Grapes
Constantia has long been acknowledged to be the most perfect
wine-growing area in South Africa. Due to prime conditions, superb red and
white wines, and wonderful dessert wines such as fine Cap Classiques are
produced
Climate/Geography
The vineyards are situated on gentle slopes not far from the sea, and
the cool breezes blowing in off two oceans are an important influence.
They provide ideal cool conditions, which slow down the ripening process
of the grapes and create a unique wine-growing environment.
The land is also richly endowed with excellent soil, temperate sunshine
and good rainfall.
