The 'Fondo Vitivinícola of Mendoza y Aeropuertos Argentina'
organizes the Harvest Festival every Vendimia. This event, part of
the official Vendimia calendar, takes place at the entrance to the
international airport of Mendoza, and always features many famous
personalities from art, culture, sport, government and the media.

Vendimia National Festival
This celebration is an important entertainment event with an allegorical
show with more than 700 artists, and it takes place at the Frank Romero
Day Greek Theater, a 130 meter wide stage in the middle of the hills.
During the event, the Vendimia National Queen is elected and crowned.
The wine harvest festival, Vendimia, which falls on the first
Saturday of March, actually begins in January in various locations
around the province and then zeroes in on the city of Mendoza. The
celebrations include folkloric festivals, religious ceremonies to bless
the grapes, crowning of the 'Reina Nacional de la Vendimia', sports
events and a lot of wine and merriment on into April.

Clarete Battle of San Asensio
San Asensio celebrates its homage in honour of this type of wine
as part of the feast of the St James the Apostle with the famous “Battle
of Clarete”, a dispute in which the town is literally watered with
the precious fruit of the vine. As is the tradition, each year on 25
July, the people of San Asensio and visitors wait for the start of the
battle to flood this town in the Rioja Alta with its most appreciated
asset. The so-called “Clarete” rosé wine. 40,000 litres of the

Festival of the Rioja Wine Harvest
Celebrations declared as being of tourist interest, held in Logroño.
On the 21st, the feast day of San Mateo, there is a traditional
ceremony in the main square, the Paseo del Espolón, in which the
first must of the new harvest is offered to the patron saint of La
Rioja, Our Lady of Valvanera. This must is produced through
traditional crushing of the grapes by two men dressed in regional
costume, treading barefoot, with their arms interlinked as they press
the bunches of grapes emptied into the large wooden tub, with a
circular dance-like movement, until the couple dressed in regional
dress known as the Vendimiadores Mayores of the festival can fill a
jug with the first juice to offer to the statue of the Virgin of
Valvanera.

Festa per il vino novello - new wine fair
In Montespertoli the not to be missed meeting with the “vino
novello” and the good food. The presentation and tasting of 2007 new
wines, produced by the Montespertoli wineries, together with food
delicacies offered by the restaurants of the town. It will also be
possible to visit the Sacred Art museum, and the Wine museum at a
lower price, showing the card of the tasting.

The second weekend in November
At the beginning of Autumn, a festival dedicated to agriculture,
environment and food: two days where it’s possible to enjoy the good
things of life in nature, to taste the genuine produce of the land
(including honey, cheese and meat) as well as the excellent wine and
olive oil from the hills, and visit this area laying south-east of
Florence.

Sapori e Colori del Montalbano - Food Festival
Last Sunday in November
A local fair where the new olive oil and the new wine are on show. You
can taste the most simple and tasty bruschetta (roasted slices of
bread with garlic poured with fresh pressed olive oil) and drink the
Novello wine, as well as other typical local products which are on
show in the birthplace of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Sagra degli antichi sapori di Toscana - Food Fair
Every year in Lastra a Signa, just outside Florence , this food
festival aims to rediscover the simple dishes of the Tuscan
traditional cooking (ribollita, grilled beefsteak, homemade bread)
made with the genuine produce coming from the countryside (olive oil,
Chianti wine).
