Small and serious, its easy accessibility and confident winemaking make Sunbury a great destination very close to Melbourne. It is characterised by small, family-owned wineries. You will often find the winemaker taking a turn at the cellar door, ready to share knowledge and philosophies as well as their wines.

Goona Warra Winery

Goona Warra Vineyards and Winery reflects the history of grape growing in the state of Victoria. Goona Warra was founded in 1863 by early Victorian State Government Premier, the Hon. James Goodall Francis, who planted his vines on extensive stone terraces and built an imposing winery of large proportion. Goona Warra meant "resting place of the black swan" in the local Aboriginal dialect.
