The rolling hills of the Yarra Valley are home to over
30 wineries.
Many of them offer tastings, tours, fine meals in
their restaurants and magnificent views.
The wineries listed here from this region were winners
of the Best Of Wine Tourism awards. |
Domain Chandon
In 1987, Domaine Chandon planted its first vines in the
picturesque Yarra Valley. The fifty hectare vineyard was planted with
traditional Champagne varieties -- Chardonnay (50%), Pinot Noir (45%), and
Pinot Meunier (5%).
The winery opened to the public in February 1991. The
original homestead, built around 1880, was renovated and the winery was
built next door. The architecture is a unique combination of French
heritage and modern Australian style. The Green Point Room, where public
and private tastings are held, overlooks the most seductive views in the
Yarra Valley. Over 80,000 visitors from around the world come to Domaine
Chandon.
