Porto has announced its Best of Wine Tourism 2020 winners, last June, during the closing dinner of the interim meeting of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.
The award ceremony took place at Monverde Wine Experience Hotel, in the presence of the representatives of the member cities of this international Network and representatives of various institutions of the wine and tourism sector.
The wine tourism projects were awarded, in each of the categories, based on criteria such as quality of services and facilities or innovation and originality of the offer, as well as the impact they have on the development of wine tourism and the region.
And the winners are:
Accommodation - Quinta do Vallado Wine Hotel
Architecture & Landscape - Quinta da Pacheca
Art & Culture - Caves Santa Marta (Art) = Museu & Enoteca 17.56 (Culture)
Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences - Quinta da Avessada
Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices - Six Senses Douro Valley
Wine Tourism Restaurants - The Yeatman
Wine Tourism Services - Bago D'Uva 360º
Moreover, in a second phase of this competition, which took place at the beginning of November during the Annual General Meeting of the network held in Bordeaux, France, the international jury, composed of representatives of all Great Wine Capitals members, selected Quinta da Pacheca as a Global Winner, thus considered the best wine tourism project among the winners of these categories.
Porto is a founding member and represents in the Network the wine growing regions of Douro and Vinhos Verdes, with the Municipality of Porto being officially representing Porto and its regions.
