With hundreds of winemakers in Mendoza, there’s no lack of innovation happening in the winery and vineyards. Here are three innovative winemakers in Mendoza who have challenged the status quo in recent years and are worth keeping an eye on.

Lewis Schmitt, the 27-year-old Bachelor of International wine student came two years ago to work as a management director – and to help renew the image of the winery. His parents had a small winery in the Ahr valley, "it's pinot noir, that I live", Schmitt says.

The Vinho Verde region presents a huge dynamism and creativity. This time we will present a group of young wine producers from this region who are part of a group called Vinho Verde Young Projects.

“THE VINEYARD SCHOOL”: THE VALUE OF CREATIVITY, FROM PROJECT TO PRODUCT, FROM KNOWLEDGE TO SOLIDARITY

The Rioja ‘n’ Rollers share several characteristics:  in spite of their young age, they’re highly trained, with experience gained in their families' vineyards as well as in wineries around the world; they’re in love with small plots overlooked by big wineries, they don’t think that they’ll ever get rich making and selling wine and want to do things differently with unusual blends.

Bordeaux is an historical wine region. Grapes have been grown and wine made here since Roman times, but rooted in the past does not mean stuck in it. There is a long history of innovation here; introducing new aging techniques to produce the ‘New French Claret’ in the 17th century, solving challenges such as mildew with the Bordeaux mixture in 1878 or the introduction of stainless steel tanks in the 1960’s. This spirit of innovation continues today.

In the beautiful seaside Cove of Quintay, the official launch of Casablanca Valley´s emblematic variety was celebrated.
