The luxury wine hotel was one of the big winners of the awards from the British magazine World of Fine Wine, winning the “Best Regional Wine List in the World”, “Best Regional Wine List in Europe”, “Three-Star Wine List” and “Jury Prize”.
12 September 2019 - On the day of Port Wine and the day when the oldest demarcated and regulated region in the world was created- the Douro Valley - The Yeatman Hotel once again won international acclaim and put the city of Porto on the worldwide luxury tourism route.
Asserting itself as an ambassador of the best Portuguese wines, the luxury wine hotel wins for the first time the overall category of “Best Regional Wine List in the World” and wins again the awards for “Best Regional Wine List in Europe”, “Three-Star Wine List” and “Jury Prize”, awarded by the British publication World of Fine Wine.
Worthy of this award, the “Wine Book”, as it is called The Yeatman's wine list, features over 1,500 wines, of which 97% are Portuguese wines. Establishing itself as a time machine, listing various vintages, special formats and limited editions and going back years or even decades, the Wine Book aims to portray the sensory profile of the hotel's 105 Portuguese wine partners.
Jan-Erik Ringertz, The Yeatman’s General Director, says: “It is a source of pride to receive this international prize which consolidates our reputation and recognizes the integrity, rigour and commitment with which our teams work daily. This award, which is considered to be the Michelin-star sommelier version, entails the unique experience we want to offer to our visitors”.
With this award, Beatriz Machado, The Yeatman’s Wine Director, believes that “we have the confirmation that originality combined with the high level of rigour, knowledge and professionalism that we impose on ourselves daily is achieved! Together we have created the best anthology of a country’s wines, with one goal: to demystify Portuguese wine, giving it the leading role it deserves”.
The award ceremony for the Best Wine Lists in the World took place last Tuesday, September 10th, in London, following a rigorous evaluation by an independent panel of prestigious international wine experts.
The Yeatman was awarded this year the Best of Wine Tourism 2020 award by the Great Wine Capitals in the Wine Tourism Restaurants category. The Great Wine Capitals Network is comprised of 10 cities which share their internationally recognized wine regions, and aims to achieve excellence in wine tourism. Apart from Porto which represents the Douro, Porto and Vinhos Verdes wines, are the cities of: Adelaide, South Australia; Bilbao, Rioja; Lausanne; Mainz, Reinhessen; Mendoza; San Francisco, Napa Valley; Valparaiso, Casablanca Valley and Verona.
