This last Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Portofino Restaurant in Valparaiso, the Association of Viticulture Casablanca Valley, the Municipality of Valparaiso and the Municipality of Casablanca celebrated the awards ceremony of the Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2017

In what has become a tradition, the Casablanca Valley presented to the media, the wine and gastronomic sector its new vintages of Pinot Noir. The guests enjoyed the novelties of the 12 vineyards that belong to the world capital of Chilean wine.

On November 10th, Porto’s Sao Bento da Vitoria Monastery was the scene of the 2017 international ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards ceremony sponsored by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network. The ceremony took place during the gala dinner that marked the end of the Network’s annual general meeting.

(Porto, November 7, 2016) – The Great Wine Capitals Global Network announced yesterday that it has accepted Verona’s application to join the Network, joining Adelaide | South Australia, Bilbao | Rioja, Bordeaux, Cape Town | Cape Winelands, Mainz | Rheinhessen, Mendoza, Porto, San Francisco | Napa Valley and Valparaiso | Casablanca Valley.

The 14th Best Of Wine Tourism event rewarded Bordeaux region’s top wine tourism locations. No fewer than 22 trophies were awarded, 7 of them Gold. The 2017 awards were presented on 18 October at Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Environmental Excellence Awards from the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA) have been awarded to wineries including Henschke Cellars, Taylors Wines, Byrne Vineyards, Treasury Wine Estates, Yalumba Wine Company, Accolade Wines, Wirra Wirra Vineyards, Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards and Pernod Ricard Winemakers, and a certificate of merit has been provided to Cape Jaffa Wines.

Porto is hosting the Great Wine Capitals General Assembly from 6 to 11 November 2016 under the thematic of "Wine & Nature"
The varied program is open to both professionals and consumers interested in wine and wine tourism.

South Australia’s women in wine have been well represented in the finalists of the 2016 Australian Women in Wine Awards.

Bodegas Luis Cañas in Villabuena de Álava was the scene on September 29 of the 2017 ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards ceremony for the Bilbao|Rioja partnership in the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.

One of the highlights of the early evening event for the 150 guests was the beautiful autumn sunset against the backdrop of a sea of vineyards surrounding the winery.
