Bilbao consolidates its reputation as a top food destination
Over one thousand experts on an international jury made up of food writers, chefs, and experts in gastronomy honored two Bilbao-area restaurants, Asador Etxebarri and Azurmendi on the 2017 edition of ‘The World’s 50 Best’ list, that recognizes the world’s best restaurants, at an awards ceremony at the Melbourne (Australia) Food and Wine Festival.
Asador Extebarri took sixth place while Azurmendi was number 38.
The judges also classified restaurants from 51st to 100th place. Here, Nerúa from Bilbao was in the 56th spot.
Azurmendi was the winner in the restaurant category in the 2008 ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ competition in Bilbao-Rioja in 2008.
The organizers of ‘The World’s 50 Best’ announced that Bilbao will host the 2018 gala.
