As one of ten recognized Great Wine Capitals, San Francisco | Napa Valley awarded its hospitality leaders the 2020 Best Of Wine Tourism regional designations in seven categories. The winners are:

Accommodations – Vista Collina Resort (Napa)
Architecture and Landscape – Louis M. Martini Winery (St. Helena)
Art and Culture - Charles Krug Winery (St. Helena)
Innovative Wine Tourism Experience – Judd’s Hill Winery and MicroCrush (Napa)
Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices – Honig Vineyard and Winery (Rutherford)
Wine Tourism Restaurant – Gott’s Roadside (Napa and St. Helena)
Wine Tourism Service – Active Wine Adventures (Napa)

An additional level of recognition – The Regional Wine Tourism Award of Merit – has been awarded to two businesses as an honorable mention recognizing a high level of commitment to wine tourism. The 2020 Regional Wine Tourism Award of Merit San Francisco | Napa Valley winners are:

Art and Culture – 1881 Napa (Oakville)
Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices – Domaine Carneros Winery (Napa)

All regional “Best Of” award winners competed for the global award, which was judged by an international panel of respected wine tourism professionals and announced at the annual general meeting of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network on November 9, 2019 in Bordeaux, France.  The international judges choose Louis M. Martini Winery as the overall winner for the San Francisco | Napa Valley region. 

Louis M. Martini’s decision to settle in Napa Valley was driven by a desire to craft exceptional wines by sourcing the best fruit possible. In the years that followed Prohibition, he established a legacy of craftsmanship and a passion for Napa Valley that continues to this day. Their history reflects the vision, ingenuity and endurance of a family committed to making the best Cabernet Sauvignon possible.

In March of 2019, they completed a significant restoration of their historic winery, originally constructed in 1933.
