The
2006 Annual General Meeting of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network took
place in
Mendoza, Argentina
from
November 10-17, 2006.
Close
to 100 people, representing: Government, Business and the wine industry
sectors, as well as representative from the wine education institutions of
the 8 network cities attended and participated in the plenary and
workshops sessions for Tourism, Business Development/ Investment and
Education.
Mr.
Hector Smud, General Manager of Fundacion Pro Mendoza became the president
for the Network for 2006/2007
One
of the important initiatives of the 2006 AGM was the formation of the
Great Wine Capitals Travel Network, a partnership of travel agents in each
of the Network cities with the aim of working together and increasing
awareness and promoting wine tourism and travel between the cities of the
Great Wine Capital Network.

Another
new initiative was the formation of the Business Service Network
established for the purpose of exchanging products, know-how and services
in the wine industry sector between the member cities. This program is
