On 19 September, 3 of Porto Best Of Wine Tourism Awardees will be present at the 1st edition of the Douro Wine Fest, from 18 to 21 September, in Peso da Régua.

The Douro Wine Fest proposes an intense programme dedicated to Wine&Gastronomy, with more than 50 activities throughout the 4 days of the festival, such as commented tastings, showcooking, wine masterclasses and Chiefs’ duels, always with Douro Wines as an ingredient or as a perfect pairing.

On 19 September, three of the winners of the Best Of Wine Tourism, will be presenting their wines at the Douro Wine Fest:

On 18 September 1908 was signed the Law Chart demarcating the Vinhos Verdes Region. It completes 106 years in 2014 – a long history with a very promising future.

To celebrate the date there will be a dinner taking place on 19:00, as well as a ceremony of delivery of the awards for the Vinhos Verdes & Gastronomy 2014 Competition.

The “Rali Vinho do Porto” for classic cars will be departing from Porto – in front of the building of Alfândega do Porto, around 15:00 on 19 September, towards the Douro Wine Region.

The Vinhos Verdes region, celebrating its 106th anniversary on 18 September, expects a very favorable harvest in 2014.

To the oenologist António Cerdeira, “the climate conditions in August and September are, at this stage, determining factors to the distinctive profile of the Vinhos Verdes in 2014. We expect the harvest to start on mid-September, revealing a good balance between the aroma intensity, acidity and alcohol, being desirable that the final maturation period is slow and progressive, in order to get elegant wines.”

The first edition of the Port Wine Day will happen on 10 September, promoted by the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto, thus celebrating the day on which the world’s oldest demarcated and regulated wine region – Alto Douro Vinhateiro - was created, back in 1756.

Invited by the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina and the Government of Mendoza, through the Ministries of Tourism and Culture, Mikhail Baryshnikov –Misha, as he prefers to be called- visited the malbec´s worldwide capital to taste several wines and enjoy Argentinean flavors. He confessed to be a great soccer fan and a wine connoisseur.

The 30th marathon du Medoc will take place on Saturday September 13th in Pauillac, France. The Medoc Marathon is one of the world's longest marathon races, but the track is certainly one of the most beautiful, meandering through the most celebrated vineyards around the famous wine estates of Pauillac, St. Julien-Beychevelle, Haut-Medoc and St. Estephe. This year the disguisement theme will be "Countries of the world and their Carnivals"

The event will be held on November 7th. Registrations for the contest of local wine tourism have already been open; it is the prelude to the world competition.

For second time, the province of Mendoza will be venue for the annual meeting of the Great Wine Capitals. The event will take place from November 2nd to 7th, 2014.

These regions are: Bordeaux (France), San Francisco|Napa Valley (United States), Florence (Italy), Mainz (Germany), Porto (Portugal), Bilbao|Rioja (Spain), Cape Town (South Africa) and Valparaiso|Casablanca Valley (Chile).
