From November 8 through 12, the Network’s Annual General Meeting will take place in Logroño (La Rioja) and Bilbao featuring a range of activities related to the world of wine.
A highlight of the meeting is a conference in Logroño on November 9 with the theme “Wine Tourism – a Strategy for Everyone”. The two main areas of focus will be ‘Wine Tourism Strategy’ and ‘Wine Tourism Success Stories’. Keynote speakers are Wendy Darneal (Vice President for Hospitality and Cultural Affairs for Constellation Brands) and José Luis Bonet (President of the Freixenet group and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain). Round table discussions featuring experts from the eight Great Wine Capitals include Andre Morgenthal (Director of Communication for Wines from South Africa, Clay Gregory (President of Visit Napa Valley, Beatriz Vergara Domecq (Wine Tourism Director for Tío Pepe from the González Byass group), Brigitte Bloch, Director of Aquitaine Tourism, Isabel Morais (Wine Tourism Director for Sogrape Vinhos) and Ana Amitrano (Wine Tourism Director at Bodegas Zuccardi.
Participants in the Forum will also visit ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ award winning estates in the Rioja region.
Throughout the AGM, the Network’s three thematic committees (Tourism, Business and Education, Marketing and Communications) and the Travel Network – made up of incoming travel agencies from the eight Great Wine Capitals - will meet to discuss current activities and future plans undertaken by the Network.
The meeting will end with a Gala Dinner at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, during which the 2016 International ‘Best Of Wine Tourism awards will be presented.
