The Vinho Verde Vineyards

The Vinho Verde Route links together, after a rigorous
selection, a number of establishments in the region that are related
to vineyards and wine production. The Wine Route integrates 62
members which are Cooperatives, Estate Bottlers, Wine Makers, Cooperative
Unions and Estate Bottlers Unions.
All members have been checked and certified as having
high quality tourist facilities. Some examples are: |
Casa de Laraias

The estate " QUINTA Casa de Laraias"
has a total area of 70 hectares, of which 17 are vineyards, 13 in
full production and 4 in re-plantation. The Vineyards produce white VINHO
VERDE and the grape varieties are Azal and Pedernă. The grapes are
converted in their own cellar with sophisticated equipment to
produce high quality wines. In 2001 the winery won the Bronze Medal Leaf
in the Wine Masters Challenge - World Wine Contest 2001, between 3000
wines from all over the world

Solar do Alvarinho

| Solar do Alvarinho is located in a building
that had been a prison long ago. Today it's a gracious, modern building
where you can learn about the "cycle of Alvarinho" and taste the
certified, quality local wines. Alvarinho wines are strong, harmonious,
fragrant, fresh and fruity. Visitors can enjoy the paintings, sculptures and music of Solar do
Alvarinho as they savour their wines.

Quinta da Franqueira

Taste the 'Vinho Verde' of Convento da Franqueira, a
16th Century monastery built with the stones from the nearby ruins of
Faria castle. The English owners have restored the 'Convento' with charm
and imagination, creating a comfortable family home. The lush greenery of
Franqueira's gardens and vineyard, and the spring-fed swimming pool,
hidden behind a graceful 17th Century 'fonte', provide the visitor with a
perfect setting to unwind. wine tasting, library, swimming pool, walking,
