The first wine grapes were planted in Sonoma
County more than 200 years ago, by Spanish missionaries, making this the
birthplace of California's Wine Country. Today, there are more than
190 wineries in Sonoma County, including many of the world's
best-known labels and appellations. Most wineries are open to the
public for tours and complimentary tastings. A few wineries require
reservations for tours and may charge for private reserve labels. |
Buena Vista Winery
|
|
| With 935 acres of vineyard, Buena Vista is the
largest vineyard estate in Carneros. Buena Vista is also California's
oldest premium winery, and its historic Harazsthy Cellars in Sonoma still
stands as a popular destination in the wine country. Exceptional richness
and balance characterize Buena Vista's award-winning wines, and the
Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly the Reserve bottling (now called Cameros
Grand Reserve), has a successful track record for ageability.
Buena Vista welcomes visitors and offers tastings in their historic ivy
covered stone Press House. An art gallery with oil paintings of the region
and a secluded glen for a picnic is part of the property. A guided
historical presentation and tour is offered daily.
