Bodegas Franco-Españolas, winner of a ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ award in 2012 for Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences, continues to delight wine tourists with its program of ‘enoactivities’ at the winery.

Logroño's old town has lots of bars and restaurants, but La Tavina offers wine and food lovers a one-stop wine, tapas and local gastronomic experience.

Seven historic wineries in the Railway Station district in Haro (Rioja) opened their doors to journalists, the wine trade and consumers for an exciting two-day tasting event and visit in September 2015.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas, one of Rioja’s most creative wine tourism innovators, has announced its 2016 Summer Cinema program.  This year’s program features:

June 16:     Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot (Jacques Tati)

June 23:     À bout de souffle (Jean-Luc Godard)

June 30:     La nuit américaine (François Truffaut)

July 7:        La Isla bonita (Fernando Colomo)

Each session will feature an introduction to the film and a music show by disc jockey Maldeamores DJ.

On April 8, the Rioja Regulatory Council rated the 2015 vintage in the Rioja DOCa ‘very good’ following tastings and chemical analyses of over 4,454 samples taken directly from vats at Rioja wineries.

Rioja's newly certified Wine Educators from Germany, China, Mexico, Switzerland, the UK, the USA, Russia and Sweden will spread their knowledge to consumers and the trade in their home markets-

Great Wine Capitals will attend the IWINETC Wine Tourism Conference and Workshop, from 4 to 7 April 2016, together with the endorsed travel agencies to Spain and Portugal: ROMOTUR and VINITUR.

Eva Longoria, the US actress of Latin origin, best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in the TV series Desperate Housewives, is also very much involved in philanthropic activities. The Eva Longoria Foundation was created to help the disadvantaged, especially immigrants, into US society and to assist women in gaining access to the job market. Her documentary, The Harvest, tells the story of 500,000 immigrant child farm labor workers in the United States.

‘Experiences’ are the key to wine tourism success stories

On November 12, Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum was the scene of the 2016 international  ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards ceremony sponsored by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.  The ceremony took place during the gala dinner that marked the end of the Network’s annual general meeting.
