Porto

Our favorite time of the year is coming, the Christmas holidays!

This is a wonderful time, which brings together family and friends and includes an endless array of parties. The whole holiday season offers us dozens of reasons to open a good bottle of wine and make a toast!

Monverde Wine Experience Hotel has been a long time affair of mine ever since I visited it for the first time, in 2016. Quite unsurprisingly, this stunning and picturesque wine hotel was the regional winner of the “Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices” category of the Best Of Wine Tourism 2018 awards, following on from winning the “Accommodation” category in 2017.

Porto and the Douro wine region have achieve more international recognition. The House of Sandeman Hostel & Suites unanimously won one of the 10 awards given by the international competition Best of Wine Tourism, held this year in Adelaide, Australia.

Aneto & Table

Aneto & Table is a restaurant with a simple but very effective concept. It was initially established with the main purpose of promoting Aneto brand and to sell its wines.

Cockburn's Port Cellars

The impressive Cockburn’s cellars are the largest in the old quarter of the city, holding 6,518 seasoned oak barrels full of maturing Port, plus the equivalent of a further 10,056 barrels in larger oak vats. This priceless stock is essential for the creation of great wines, especially the famous Special Reserve. Visitors will learn that even with modern technology, there will never be an alternative to the traditional slow ageing of fine Port in well-seasoned oak.

We’ve created a 3-day tour that explores the evolution of the world’s true Port, starting in the steep hillside vineyards of the Douro. On these historic quinta estates, harvests become complex fortified wines, brought down the river to age in the elegant lodges of Gaia. They’re especially magnificent enjoyed from here, overlooking the picturesque tile roofs of Porto.
