In the midst of nature, on top of the hill, high quality and emotions are essential features of “Hofgut Wißberg – Das Weinberghotel”. Guests can book their favorite and naturally designed rooms, enjoy regional wine and the great view.
Feel like in the middle of the countryside
If I didn’t know any better, I would think I was standing in the middle of a forest. The long foyer wall at Hofgut Wißberg – Das Weinberghotel is adorned with forest printed wallpaper, giving the room a natural feel as if one were “in the middle of the countryside”. In addition, the reception is resplendent with high-quality designer furniture from the brand FREIFRAU. The arrangement is impressively showing what awaits the guest: stylish quality in an organic age. “We want to be recognisable and for the region to be palpable for our holiday guests!”, explains Vladimir Saal. The man from Lower Franconia has been responsible for hotel engagements for the family owners, Gemünden/Badrot, since summer 2021. “That the employees are able to identify with the house and its concept, is very important to us”, he points out. “We are selling quality and emotion.”
Help from a sophisticated booking tool
Jennifer Fruet has been hotel manager at the Wißberg since summer 2021. It is easy for her to identify with the concept: She comes from the local area, called “Rheinhessen”. Jennifer particularly enjoys being able to fulfil the guests’ wishes and thus optimize the satisfaction of their stay. A sophisticated booking tool on the hotel website www.hofgut-wissberg.de enables her to do this. When booking rooms online, guests can set eight filters to find their favourite room: not only size or bed type, design & furnishings (forest – mist – flowers – plants) or location (ground floor – particularly quiet) can be selected, but also view (sunrise – midday sun – vineyard view).
Repositioning in a natural look
The Hofgut Wißberg has used the Corona period for extensive renovation work: After about 20 years of operation, the wine hotel has repositioned itself as a “First Class Boutique Hotel” and from the end of March 2022, the historic building will now present itself in a new look. The 21-room hotel targets active holidaymakers who appreciate quality, and also executives who want to hold retreats in natural surroundings.
At 270 metres, the Wißberg is the second highest hill in the Rhine-Hessian hill-country and offers a 360° view. The Via Vinea – an original wine nature trail – passes right by the hotel. Along the 3.5-kilometre-long hiking-trail, and through the Wißberg nature reserve, there are 22 adventure stations – e.g. a “grape variety garden”, an excavation site for fossils, a vine labyrinth and a Kneipp enclosure. For guests who want to explore the wider Rhine-Hessian surroundings, the wine hotel offers e-bikes. Yoga or training sessions with a personal trainer in the vineyard are a further holiday highlight.
Focused on regional wine
Regional wine naturally plays an important role at the Weinhotel where a Trust wine bar, exclusively for hotel guests, is to be found in the hotel lobby. Guests can choose from six red and six white wines from local vintners and may help themselves to the bottles of wine from the refrigerator. Those who enjoy the Rhine-Hessian wine on the hotel terrace or in their hotel room will be pleased with the moderate prices.
Three rooms are available for family celebrations and conferences – wine tastings and seminars are held in the hotel’s historic vaulted cellar. In the farm restaurant “gramms”, Marie-Claire and Marko Gramms prepare regional dishes accompanied by the appropriate wines. The highlight of Hofgut Wißberg is an 18-hole golf course with a wide view of the wine landscape. Vladimir Saal has set his sights on establishing the vineyard “…as a new top holiday destination in Germany.” And with the high-quality offer at Hofgut Wißberg, he is well on his way to achieving this.
Two Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2022 were presented to the “Hofgut Wißberg – das Weinberghotel”: one in the category “Accommodation” nationally, and, what is more, the hotel was awarded the “People’s Choice Award” to an international audience. The Weinberghotel convinces with a sustainable concept and great commitment.
