Festa Tomate Coração de Boi do Douro

Held every August since 2016, the Festa do Tomate Coração de Boi do Douro transforms one of summer’s emblematic fruits into a celebration of the Douro and its diversity. The event brings together a blind tomato tasting judged by chefs, journalists and winemakers, shared meals between producers and visitors, and wines from participating estates paired with local flavours. Moving between Douro wine estates each year, the festival has helped restore visibility to traditional vegetable gardens and turned a once-overlooked tomato variety into a symbol of local flavours and origins.
