Great Wine Capitals will attend the IWINETC Wine Tourism Conference and Workshop, from 4 to 7 April 2016, together with the endorsed travel agencies to Spain and Portugal: ROMOTUR and VINITUR.

A little more than a decade ago, a conservation partnership was established with the wine industry to reduce farming impact and proactively ensure suitable expansion in this region by joining hands with wine producers as the private landowners to assist them to increase the private footprint of protection for all critically endangered natural habitats in our winelands.  This resulted in the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI) being established in 2004.

‘Experiences’ are the key to wine tourism success stories

On November 12, Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum was the scene of the 2016 international  ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards ceremony sponsored by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network.  The ceremony took place during the gala dinner that marked the end of the Network’s annual general meeting.

With just a few months to go until it opens to the public in June 2016, La Cité du Vin has unveiled its new identity. It was more than a change of name that was revealed at the evening organised on 26 October at Bordeaux City Hall for financial backers, patrons, partners and all those who have been close to the project since 2009: an eye-catching signature, a logo and the graphic design to go with the new name.

Cape Wine 2015, September's three-day showcase to the international wine fraternity has proved the most successful exhibition of its kind to date, with the number of visitors rising by 27% on the previous show.
