Springtime in Bordeaux is the perfect season for wine lovers to discover the very places where their favourite beverage is produced.

Indeed, during the April and May weekends, hundreds of châteaux open their properties to the visitors and offer free tours and tastings. People can go and visit the premises and cellars, understand the wine production process but also meet the winemakers and share their passion.

Rioja's peripatetic winemaker Alvaro Palacios was recently named Man of the Year in 2015 by Decanter magazine.

Palacios began his career at his family's winery in Alfaro in Rioja Baja but soon grew restless.  Following a short stint working for a local barrel maker, Palacios moved to Priorat, a largely unknown wine district southwest of Barcelona.  He quickly recognized the potential of the slate soil, climate and grapes of this wild region and began to produce miniscule amounts of wine that soon caught the attention of the trade and press around the world.

With new tours, activities and premium spaces the vineyards belonging to the “Ruta del Vino” of Casablanca invite you to share the passion for wine, gastronomy and the many open air activities we offer.

The Eiffel Tower, the Coliseum of Rome, the Buckingham Palace, the Acropolis and the “Sagrada Familia” in Barcelona have this year another opponent in the competition as world’s best tourist attraction: the Ribeira of Porto (Porto's riverside).

The 2015 harvest signalled a significant ten year milestone for Waterkloof – the biodynamic wine estate overlooking False Bay in Somerset West – as it celebrates a decade of winemaking and working in harmony with nature to craft wines of vitality, individuality and sustainability.

The Cape winelands can aptly be described as picturesque … that’s what they look like most of the time, like a beautiful painting. A vision of rolling mountains and koppies sketched in relief; a crosshatch of vineyards stitching up the landscape; that endless blue sky with plump clouds slowly drifting across.
