Of course, receiving a Best Of Wine Tourism  is an award for several years of work aiming at creating innovative and welcoming visit concepts.

For small properties as Château du Payre, it is an opportunity to get promotion locally thanks to the several press releases circulated. A heartwarming highlight, especially as our estate is not situated  in a most touristic area.

2016 will be a great year, with the opening of the Cité du vin, the Bordeaux Wine Festival, and the European soccer championship in July,  all events creating a very festive atmosphere.

Château du Payre is ready to welcome groups  and individuals for the coming season.

"The GWC Architecture & Landscapes Award came at the perfect time for Waterkloof. We opened our doors in November 2009, and the international exposure we received after the awards was announced helped to put us on the map with the right consumers. People who were interested in art & design, who also appreciated fine food & wine. Design Magazines from around the world made contact with us to feature our building, and we had a lot of people visiting the farm to view the building and our site for themselves. We managed to win this award twice, and more recently won the Best wine Tourism Restaurant Category. All of the exposure we received from our own press releases, and the general press releases has certainly helped to increase our wine sales, as well as patrons dining in our restaurant."

"For any serious player in the Cape's Wine Industry, wine tourism is of critical importance to both international brand building and the estate's profitability. The accolade of being a recipient of GWC Best of Wine Tourism recipient is one of the greatest boosts available in positioning the estate as an acknowledged World Class Wine Tourism player. Vergelegen has utilized this accolade in all its media publications and international presentations with great success."

The Best of Wine Tourism Awards fills an important gap as there are no other international 3rd party independent body offering structured judging for Tourism globally that as South Africa, we can take part. Wine Tourism has become integral to the tourism industry of South Africa as a whole, and these awards allow a unique opportunity to showcase the best of South Africa on a global comparative stage. The awards have been a talking point in numerous meetings with old and new clients and guests. The prestige associated with the awards gains momentum year on year and, while there is room for improvement in terms of acknowledgement of the awards, this aspect has seen steady growth.

The Great Wine Capitals 'Best Of' awards have become one of the most prestigious awards/accolades in the wine industry, and the recent Architecture/Landscapes award was one of, if not the most prized achievement to date for Cavalli. We hope to continue to participate as it creates for us a benchmark by which to measure our growth as a young business attempting to carve our niche into the wine sector. The acknowledgment as well as the award received, encourages us to continue to seek to improve our offering to the Wine Tourism market into the future".

"Quinta do Tedo is honored to receive Best Of Wine Tourism 2014 for excellence in our wine tourism services in Portugal - to include tours & tastings and our 5-bedroom agroturismo (B&B). We are impressed by Great Wine Capitals' initiative to connect wine lovers to these cities and internationally-renowned wine regions, that creates a wonderful collaboration between these very places with the common goal to promote and always improve wine tourism. We pride ourselves at the Quinta for being personable, informative and professional and wholeheartedly believe that this is essential to meet the expectations of those visiting our Quinta, the Douro and Portugal.
