Dominique Babin played a defining role in the creation of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network. A graduate of France’s École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), he pursued a career in international relations before being appointed Director General of the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1995. Deeply committed to international cooperation, he initiated the creation of the Great Wine Capitals network in 1999, pioneering the idea of bringing together leading wine regions around shared values of collaboration, innovation and economic development. His vision laid the foundations for a network that has since become an internationally recognised reference in wine tourism and cooperation between wine regions. The GWC Roll of Honour recognises Dominique Babin’s founding contribution, his spirit of openness and his enduring legacy within the Network.
