At the heart of the grape harvest: the fall event of 2022

"Au coeur des vendanges" is the must-attend event in your autumn agenda. During this day, Saturday, October 1st, the work and know-how around the harvest are highlighted by the winegrowers during an immersion in the vineyards.

“Au coeur des vendanges”

The event “Au cœur des vendanges” was initiated in 2018 by Swiss Wine Valais. During this first regional edition, there were 17 participating wineries and 129 apprentice grape pickers. The enthusiasm around the event led the Valais promotional organization to renew the event in 2019.

This project, innovative and promising for Swiss wines, was then taken by Swiss Wine and the regional promotion offices to a national scale on Saturday October 2, 2021. The first national harvest day, “Au cœur des vendanges”, did not disappoint the organizers with the participation of more than 40 wineries, including 13 sold-out wineries, and more than 500 grape-picking apprentices. The commitment of the winegrowers, the media coverage and the positive response from the wineries as well as the attendees confirm the desire of Swiss Wine to repeat the event in 2022.

“The 2021 edition of “Au cœur des vendanges” was for me a pure happiness: an experience filled with smiles and pleasure. Opening our doors as part of the national “Au coeur des vendanges” day gives meaning to our profession: people were amazed to discover what goes on behind the scenes and to understand what we do. It’s a joy to have been able to share our passion, to have created links and to have been able to make people aware of all the work that goes into a bottle of wine. What is “Au coeur des vendanges”?

“Au coeur des vendanges” arrives when summer draws to a close, the grapes are gorged with sugar and the vines are discreetly adorned with touches of gold, it is harvest time.

This event, which takes place throughout Switzerland, aims to give consumers the opportunity to discover the harvest period. This moment is the consecration of the work done throughout the year by the producers. For half a day, visitors are immersed in the heart of the harvest alongside the winegrowers to experience moments of rare intensity through a demanding, but very rewarding work. It is also an opportunity to share and exchange ideas about the process of creating wine in order to discover all its secrets.

The program includes a warm welcome, an introduction to the know-how of the grape harvest, a few hours of healthy sweating and, to close the experience, a delicious lunch bringing together the grape pickers and the producers around the vines and their wines.

A participant of the 2021 edition shares his experience: “What I liked best about the first edition of “Au cœur des vendanges” was the closeness with the winegrowers and their desire to share their know-how. Discovering their work during one day was very instructive! The event ended with a superb meal and the weather was on our side the whole day!
