The São João Batista Fort, in Porto, hosted the Best Of Wine Tourism 2026 Awards ceremony for the Porto, Douro, and Vinho Verde regions. The initiative, promoted by Porto City Hall within the framework of the Great Wine Capitals global network, annually distinguishes the best wine tourism projects across different categories.
The 24th edition of the Awards honored wine tourism initiatives capable of combining tradition with innovation, authenticity with creativity, and sustainability with quality—not only in their infrastructures and services but also through the impact of their activity on the region and surrounding communities. From a total of 83 applications, the local jury, composed of nine experts, selected seven regional winners and granted nine honorable mentions.
The city of Porto, as the gateway to the Douro and Vinho Verde regions, plays a crucial role in the development of wine tourism, encouraging visitors to explore the entire territory and contributing to sustainable and balanced tourism across the region. Porto City Hall positions these territories as leading international destinations, celebrating their winemaking tradition, regional culture, and innovative spirit, and positioning wine tourism as a strategic pillar.
Over the years, the Best Of Wine Tourism Awards have reinforced a path of excellence, highlighting diverse and memorable experiences. The creation of the Best Of Club – Porto is an initiative that brings together the community of winners, fostering collaboration among wine tourism promoters while strengthening the commitment to excellence and innovation in the sector. This dynamic also contributes to enhancing the national and international visibility of the region.
This year’s Porto winners embody the diversity and richness of the region’s wine culture, combining tradition and innovation, and offering visitors unforgettable ways to discover one of the world’s most iconic wine destinations, showcasing the region’s unique ability to blend heritage, landscape, novelty, and hospitality. And, of course, amazing and renowned wines!
