Humus & Wine

Hummus Records, the well-known French-speaking Swiss label (Emilie Zoé, Louis Jucker, Coilguns, Anna Aaron, Stéphane Blok, etc.) launched in 2021, with the support of Brasserie de Montbenon, a leading figure in Lausanne's bistronomy scene, a travelling festival that combines the Vaud wine region with alternative music : ‘Hummus & Wine’.

These original concert sessions bring together artists, mainly Swiss, and Vaud winemakers at pop-up events in prominent local heritage sites.

The idea is to showcase – and place on an equal footing – the richness of the music scene and that of the wine-growing tradition, in magnificent locations that are often overlooked by foreign tourists.

The project has three objectives:

  • To offer live performances by talented artists in a unique setting.
  • To promote the Vaud wine region to music lovers.
  • To enable people to (re)discover iconic locations in the region in a new light.

In 2021, six sessions at wine estates were all sold out; in 2022, ten concerts where Hummus & Wine set up shop, not only at wine estates, but also in monuments (Chillon and La Sarraz castles, Montheron Abbey) and museums (Fondation de l’Hermitage, Collection de l’Art Brut, Musée d’Art de Pully), with equally pleasing results: 90% capacity (half of the concerts sold out) and a total of 1,700 visitors.

The 2023 edition is based on the same formula, with ten sessions taking place in historic monuments and vineyards, and is once again proving to be a resounding success, with most dates already sold out or nearly so.

Above all, the overall conclusion is that the concept appeals to a diverse audience: with intimate venues, proximity to the artists, the rediscovery of breathtaking locations and a rather overwhelming interest in the invited winemakers, in addition to the concerts themselves, the tastings and estate tours were largely sold out.
