The winery was originally built into the hillside to minimize impact, preserving native oaks and using materials like native stone and Douglas fir to blend with the environment. Its two-story design reduced the footprint, and recent renovations continued this legacy with natural materials and spaces that connect guests to the land. Chandon also uses agrotechnology to monitor vine and soil moisture, applying only the water lost through evapotranspiration. In 2023, all home gardens were replanted with drought-tolerant native grasses and succulents, greatly reducing irrigation needs and honoring local ecology.
