The historic Völker Restaurant in Oppenheim is located in the birthplace of Paul Wallot, the visionary who designed the German Reichstag. An in-house exhibition offers insights into his life and work.
Beneath the restaurant lies a 13th-century cellar that hosts weddings and guided tours – in German, English and French. The classic film Dinner for One has been reenacted here – in Rheinhessen dialect – more than 1,000 times. It continues to delight audiences to this day – and even comes with a matching menu. Before the show begins, guests are taken on a guided tour of Oppenheim’s historic underground passageways.
Since 1999, Ute Völker has been pairing handpicked ingredients with a carefully curated selection of regional wines and spectacular views of the nearby St. Catherine’s Church.
This unique cultural experience – deeply rooted in Rheinhessen – earned the Völker Restaurant the 2026 Best of Wine Tourism Award for “Art and Culture”.
