Weingut Dr. Koehler in Bechtheim blends nature and architecture in a way that is both modern and authentic. In a playful nod to its name, every tasting session with Dr. Koehler is dubbed a “consultation hour”.
The architectural centrepiece is a new building. A contemporary take on the traditional farmstead, designed to mirror the existing structures while blending seamlessly into its surroundings. The multi-functional courtyard is more than just a large event space. It also provides easy access to the wine shop and acts as a working yard during the harvest season.
It’s this contemporary cubic architecture – which carefully contrasts and blends with the historic buildings through carefully selected materials – that caught the jury’s attention. For this architectural vision, Weingut Dr. Koehler receives the 2026 Best of Wine Tourism Award for “Architecture and Landscape”.
