Altaluvia Cabernet Franc 2019 “Best in Show” in DWWA 2024

At the 21st edition of the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2024 (DWWA) competition, held in London, Bodega Doña Paula's Altaluvia Cabernet Franc 2019 was awarded a "Best in Show" medal, the DWWA's highest award.

This is a great recognition for Doña Paula winery from Mendoza, Argentina. This Cabernet Franc from Gualtallary was highlighted as one of the highest quality wines among more than 18,000 labels from around the world.

The DWWA competition awards 50 “Best In Show” medals every year. The winners are selected by a panel of judges, who conducts a second tasting of the wines that obtained more than 97 points, which can be recategorized for a platinum medal. After that, they carry out a final tasting of the wines with platinum medals and select the “Best in Show”.

The Altaluvia Cabernet Franc 2019 expresses all the descriptors of this varietal. It is refined and elegant, with an excellent balance of spices and red fruits. On the nose, red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry -typical herbal notes of Cabernet Franc- as well as yellow chili and menthol notes.

In the mouth it has a velvety texture and soft tannins, along with the freshness of a harvest at its intermediate point of maturity. It is a dynamic and contemporary wine.
