As the Bay Area prepares to welcome the world for six matches of FIFA World Cup 26 at Levi’s Stadium, Napa Valley is stepping onto the global stage through collaboration, creativity, and a shared regional vision.
The official destination marketing organization for Napa County, Visit Napa Valley, has partnered with Napa Valley Vintners to launch The Napa Valley Timeout—a curated, game-day getaway that invites international sports fans to extend their World Cup journey into the heart of wine country.
A Regional Opportunity, Activated Together
Located just 50 miles (80 km) northeast of San Francisco, Napa Valley offers a compelling complement to the excitement of match day: more than 550 wineries, over 120 lodging options ranging from boutique inns to luxury resorts, and a celebrated culinary scene grounded in local agriculture. From vineyard tours and tastings to hot-air balloon rides, spa days, and scenic drives, the region provides an inviting counterbalance to the intensity of global sport.
The Napa Valley Timeout reflects a shared understanding among partners that major sporting events are catalysts – not just for stadium crowds, but for broader destination discovery. By working together, Visit Napa Valley and Napa Valley Vintners are aligning the region’s wine, hospitality, and tourism sectors to welcome a new, global audience.
“This collaboration presents a remarkable opportunity for Napa Valley to showcase its world-renowned wine and hospitality by welcoming visitors from around the world during these high-profile sporting events,” said Linsey Gallagher, President & CEO of Visit Napa Valley. “We’re thrilled that fans from around the globe will have the chance to experience Napa Valley as the ultimate complement to their World Cup journey.”
From Match Day to Wine Country
At the heart of The Napa Valley Timeout are special packages and offers designed to make it easy for visitors to pair world-class football with wine country indulgence. Fans can enjoy a pre-game tasting, celebrate a win (or console a loss) over a Michelin-recognized meal, or unwind the following day with a leisurely vineyard tour. The experience is intentionally flexible, inviting visitors to shape their own rhythm between sport and relaxation.
Collaboration Beyond County Lines
This initiative is also part of a broader regional effort led by the Bay Area Host Committee, which is coordinating the Bay Area’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and other major global sporting events. By aligning destinations across the region, partners are presenting a unified vision for sport-driven tourism—one that encourages visitors to explore beyond the stadium and engage with the distinct identities of Northern California’s communities.
For Napa Valley, The Napa Valley Timeout is more than a campaign—it’s a case study in collaboration in action. By bringing together vintners, hoteliers, tourism leaders, and regional partners, Napa Valley is demonstrating how global events can be leveraged thoughtfully to elevate place, people, and product—long after the final whistle blows.
