Sanette Ferreira is a tourism geographer and a member of the International Union of Geographers’s commission for Leisure and Tourism and Global Change. She has 40 years of experience in teaching and research in the field of tourism and local and regional development. She holds a PhD from Unisa (1992). Her current position is an Emeritus Professor in Geography and Environmental Studies at Stellenbosch University. She published more that 50 publications, presented 47 papers at national and international conferences and has supervised more than 50 post-graduate students. Over the last ten years the focus of her research was mostly on wine tourism related issues in South Africa and specifically on the development of the Stellenbosch wine routes.
