Romantic Rheinhessen Retreats

Sometimes, a few days away from home is all you need to relax and to recharge your relationship with romantic energy. As so often, Rheinhessen provides the answer to your needs.

When was the last time you and your partner spent a romantic weekend by yourselves? A weekend without children or family, days without hurries and worries? Sometimes, a few days away from home is all you need to relax and to recharge your relationship with romantic energy. As so often, Rheinhessen provides the answer to your needs. The Great Wine Region just south of Mainz boasts several romantic destinations, where couples can enjoy romance and local wine culture in comfort and style. This episode of wine stories is full of candles and kisses. Today we present you two romantic wine locations for couples in Rheinhessen that will woo you with their intimate and reclusive style.

Bernhard-Räder winery

One of Rheinhessen’s romantic highlights is the Bernhard-Räder winery in Flomborn. The family-run business not only produces fine wines but also provides romantic accommodation. The old building of the winery has been restored and offers several unique and romantic guest rooms. All of the rooms are inspired by the process of winemaking and are furnished in a wine-themed style. The romantic centerpiece however, is the rustic garden with its natural beauty. Another gem is the spectacular breakfast room with its stucco ceiling and grand chandelier.

Domhof winery: history and romance

Another romantic address in Rheinhessen is the Domhof winery near Guntersblum. The fascinating building from the medieval period has seen all kinds of visitors over the years. Some claim that historical figures like Martin Luther or Wolfgang Goethe once spent a night here. Whether this is true or not, the Domhof winery is worth a visit. The owners Alexander Baumann and his wife Halina know exactly how to create an intimate and romantic atmosphere. The winery features several romantic rooms that incorporate local wine culture into the mix and a special suite for newlywed couples. Poetic names like Riesling-Lounge or Himmelthal (heaven’s valley) suggest a delightful stay. While dining you can enjoy a panoramic view from the restaurant’s large windows and enjoy the softly flowing lines of the Rheinhessen landscape of 1000 hills.

Both Bernhard-Räder and Domhof are two excellent examples of Rheinhessen’s romantic potential. Each of them offers a unique package of modern luxury, wellness, haute cuisine and local wine culture. So next time, when life gets too busy, you know what to do…
