Swiss Wine Tourism development
The adventure of developing wine tourism in Switzerland began more than 10 years ago. Although some wine estates had already taken a few steps in this direction, wine tourism was still unknown, disparate and the added value of the tourism-wine alliance was often misunderstood.
Vaud Oenotourisme : a pioneering project in Switzerland
In 2014, the canton of Vaud and its institutional partners decided to set up a project to develop and coordinate wine tourism across the canton. Yann Stucki was the leader of this large-scale project, a pioneer in the country. He brought together several sectors of activity, such as gastronomy, hospitality, tourism, culture, local products and, of course, wine. To date, more than 135 members make up the Vaud Wine Tourism network. Wine tourism in Vaud has expanded, become more dynamic, diversified and professionalised.
The momentum generated by this project inspired the City of Lausanne and its partners to further position Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud as a driving force behind Swiss wine tourism by joining the illustrious Great Wine Capitals network in 2018. Yann Stucki has been the Local Manager of Lausanne Great Wine Capitals since its inception. He continues to hold this position today.
Swiss Wine Tour project
In 2021, the coordinated development of wine tourism on a national scale came to fruition with the creation of the Swiss Wine Tour. This project brings together stakeholders and consolidates wine tourism offerings on a commercial platform. This giving wine tourists a comprehensive overview of the gems of all of Switzerland’s wine-growing regions.
Here too, Yann Stucki had the pleasure of setting up and managing this concept from the outset and continues to be its operational manager.
Yann Stucki previously worked for prestigious tourist destinations such as Crans-Montana and Montreux Riviera. He also worked for the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck (Austria) in 2012. An epicurean at heart, he enjoys showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship and incredible landscapes of his country, to which he is deeply attached.
After setting up his own company in 2018, specialising in operational marketing and communication, with two friends – business partners, he is delighted to continue working on these various wine tourism projects that are close to his heart and to “actively contribute to establishing Switzerland’s place on the world map of prestigious wine tourism destinations”.
Development based on a collective and a shared mindset
Although he is now considered ‘Mister Swiss Wine Tourism’, Yann likes to emphasise that “the successful development of wine tourism does not depend on one person, but on a collective that believes in bringing together different sectors of activity and different regions”. He likes to point out that “wine tourism is first and foremost a state of mind: seeing your colleague or another sector of activity as a potential source of collaboration with added value for everyone. ”
Whether at regional, national or international level, Yann Stucki is delighted to continue his mission and to put his passion at the service of promoting and developing Swiss wine tourism!
