The event organized by the Port and Douro Wines Institute in partnership with Port Wine Companies, celebrated this Monday, October 10th, its first anniversary.
My Port Wine Day takes place every month, always on the 10th at 6pm, and aims to promote the various matches between gastronomy and Port Wine.
In this anniversary edition the proposed experience was, tinned sardines paired with Port Wine. Strange, no? Take a look at these mouth-watering photos.

Filipe Morato Gomes enjoyed the perfect day trip to the beautiful Douro region - by van, boat and train and finally to Quinta do Bomfim where the port winemaking process was expertly explained. This experience was organized by Sara Dias of 'Oporto & Douro Moments. It's not surprising that 'Moments' won a Best Of Wine Tourism' award for Services in 2016!

Organized by the Winegrowers’ Commission of the Region of the Vinhos Verdes (CVRVV), the festival will have "over 150 wines in competition, representing 33 growers" and its programme includes the 23rd  as a day especially planned for families.

Activities for the children are planned, which, according to CVRVV, "provide the first experiences with gastronomy and the discovery of flavours".

There will be wine-tasting sessions, commented by oenologists and growers, live cooking sessions, a wine shop, restaurants and an activity called "Unlikely Chefs", in which the stars will be "public figures from other sectors, who will show off their culinary gifts”.

"The creation of a space dedicated to workshops" and an expanded area for culinary demonstrations are also being planned, "because in the previous editions, there was a heavy demand for this type of experience ", said the President of CVRVV, Manuel Pinheiro, who added that the previous edition had 25 thousand visitors.

The festival is in the east car park of the Porto Customs House, with the Douro River running alongside, and it will occupy a larger area this year than it did last year.

Admission to the festival costs ten euros, with the right to a glass, eight tickets for wine-tasting sessions, and a commented wine-tasting event.

Quinta da Pacheca in Lamego in the Upper Douro provides food, wine and tourism experiences for the visitor.  It's no wonder that the property has won a host of 'Best Of Wine Tourism' awards for Accommodation and Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences.

Douro is not just about the big names in wine. Discovering the whole of the region is the idea behind the 2016 Douro Fair which will take place on the weekend of 25 and 26 June at the Quinta de Nápoles (Niepoort).
