The Lorenz organic winery stands for eco wine culture, top quality, open hospitality and a real zest for life. To enable future generations enjoy a viable environment, Lorenz supports handling natural resources responsibly and an intact ecosystem, working in the vineyard and cellar to EU eco rules, using regenerable energies, and seeks to pass on this awareness to guests at numerous events.

Gebert´s Weinstuben

The restaurant, in the meantime run in the fifth generation, can seat 48 guests in friendly modern surroundings, uniting elegance with over a hundred years of wine tradition. The combination of historic charm and informality has gained it the nickname 'Mainz Living Room.' The kitchen backs continuity and regionalism and the wine list includes over 150 great wines from the region.

Gästehaus Ressler

Located right at the centre of the beautiful vintage heart of Harxheim, Guesthouse Ressler offers eleven rooms, each with its own distinctive flair, one especially designed for disabled persons. Opened in 2007, it has been classified as a 5-Star Guesthouse by the German Tourism Association in 2008, the highest ranking available in this category.

Kultur- und Weinbotschafter Rheinhessen e.V.

More than 80 trained tour guides offer a great variety of visits, sightseeing tours and trips all over Mainz and Rheinhessen in over ten different languages (including norwegian, finnish, arabic and turkish). The “wine-ambassador” will guide you to top-notch sights, the best winemakers, the most exquisite restaurants or one of the large number of historic and cultural sites all over our region.

Racke - Besucherzentrum Haus Kupferberg

Kupferberg Visitors' Centre offers an attractive range of art objects, cultural history, pleasure and live events. The Museum shows a large collection of historic sparkling wine glasses, early poster art and the original art nouveau pavilion from the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. Richly carved historic wine casks and medieval and Roman cellars extending deep below ground are also fascinating.

Just a stone's throw away from the best Harxheim southern slope sites, a refined regional cuisine and first-class wines from their own vineyards join together in an absolutely inspired, culinary symbiosis. Accommodated in an old manor house dating from 1725, the proprietors attach great importance to adapting the restaurant concept to existing conditions.


With its over 500-year history, nearly 36,000 students and 8,700 employees, the Johannes Gutenberg University forms the scientific centre of the Mainz and Rheinhessen region.
