Great Wine Capitals Global Network and The Porto Protocol Foundation announce a collaboration to promote the role of wine regions in the sustainable evolution of the wine industry.

The alliance between these two organizations is a natural one as both ultimately seek to preserve for generations to come a sustainable wine world. It also derives from the common belief that accomplishing this long-term vision requires a new approach, grounded on sustainability principles and the ultimate need for all stakeholders to respond collectively and promptly to climate change.

The spirit that underpins the activities of these institutions is based on the belief that cooperation and a strong global network will create an easy framework for cooperation.

Among other initiatives that will arise from this cooperation, both organizations will seek to jointly search, promote, and share sustainable practices in wine tourism around the world.

Jacques Faurens, President of Great Wine Capitals, said: “The wine tourism industry is deeply concerned by sustainability and our organization is promoting sustainable practices; our wine regions are linked and connected to the land and landscapes and biodiversity awareness and environment protection are part of the message conveyed when welcoming visitors. Our partnership with the Porto Protocol will ensure that we inspire the wine tourism players and support them with viable solutions.”

Adrian Bridge, Executive Director of The Porto Protocol Foundation and The Fladgate Partnership said: “This Partnership is of great value for Porto Protocol as it enables us to widen the scope of our work, our message and to reinforce further the search for collaborative sharing along the wine value chain around the world, most importantly it links wine tourism which has a strong future but needs to be developed in a sustainable way.  This allows for a cohesive and comprehensive presentation of all aspects of the wine industry encountered by customers.”
