Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo
In this recognized Wine Tourism project visitors arrive into the 18th century manor house, hosting a boutique wine hotel with 11 rooms turned to the landscape. The classic details of the service, schist and local woods coating the spaces and Portuguese carpets and pottery beautifying the rooms are accompanied by the team´s care that welcomes everyone with a smile.
The Conceitus Winery Restaurant, occupying an interior room and the outside terrace over the vineyards, ensures a full marriage between the local cuisine and wines from the property. It's the "local food", which assumes a strong character of sustainability and preservation of local food resources (fish from the river, our olive oil, tea and fruit jams, our vegetables and the orchards ‘fruits) and enchants guests and tourists.
The visitor´s center, schist coated and with an interior view of the aging room, is the end point for winetours and proposes several tastings matched with wines and local daily tapas. It’s a panoramic room next to a terrace facing the river and vineyards, where customers can make their purchases with a home delivery service. A unique space that also hosts some groups activities such as blending sessions or mini-classes with the Chef.
The old wing of the house used to guard machines and animals gave place to an unmissable and relaxing shed, filled with comfortable sofas and overlooking the 80 years old vines. The gardens, the stream and the orchards where clients can pick fruit, the landmark (1758) and the pool, the walking trails with shadows for picnics and signs for hiking and biking, the wine bar and the chapels (1785) are ideal places to feel the wine and its historical essence.
The new Wine Museum, which tells the Port wine cycle using more than 500 pieces from the 18th and 19th century, closes the whole experience, always looking to the stunning landscape declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
