(Porto, November 7, 2016) – The Great Wine Capitals Global Network announced yesterday that it has accepted Verona’s application to join the Network, joining Adelaide | South Australia, Bilbao | Rioja, Bordeaux, Cape Town | Cape Winelands, Mainz | Rheinhessen, Mendoza, Porto, San Francisco | Napa Valley and Valparaiso | Casablanca Valley.

The Yeatman

The Yeatman is a luxury wine hotel and spa and offers the best of Portugal: from gastronomy and wine to the art of good hospitality. It is a member of the highly respected chain Relais & Châteaux, with 82 bedrooms and suites, a premium restaurant with one Michelin star led by Chef Ricardo Costa, the largest collection of Portuguese wines in the world, a Vinothérapie® Spa by Caudalie and 11 meetings and events rooms.

It is set within 7 acres of land and gardens in the historic Port wine lodge district with stunning panoramic views over Porto and the river Douro.

The Douro Region dominates the Portuguese winners with 3 producers, W&J Graham’s, Quinta do Noval and Taylor Fladgate, the Vinho Verde region is once again on the list with Quinta de Soalheiro and the Bairrada region with Luis Pato.

A wine region is an admirable and seductive scenery for any kind of sports competition and the excellent nectars produced there are a sign of quality, whose promotion can be conveyed through different types of sports.

A sublime example of this connection was, decades ago, Rali de Portugal/Vinho do Porto.

The ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ People’s Choice Award is an offshoot of the ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards.  The accolade, created in 2018, gives wine tourists from all over the world the opportunity to vote for their favorite wine tourism experience from among the latest winners of a prestigious ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ award.

What are the ‘Best Of Wine Tourism’ awards?

Winner of the Great Wine Capitals Best Wine Tourism Award in the Wine Tourism Service category, EcoTours Portugal is a company that organises a series of experiences across various regions of Portugal.

This company runs some programmes to the Douro Valley that can last up to 3 days, enabling you to enjoy this region with many possibilities, including visits to wineries, historical monuments, Douro River cruise, wine tastings and a taste the delicious local cuisine.

I went on the one-day Douro Cruise experience, and got to see a few different sites in that region:

The luxury wine hotel was one of the big winners of the awards from the British magazine World of Fine Wine, winning the “Best Regional Wine List in the World”, “Best Regional Wine List in Europe”, “Three-Star Wine List” and “Jury Prize”.

She lives in Ovar where she is also a very successful lawyer. She is stubborn, persistent, dedicated to what she does and has an amazing energy, taking everything by storm. But she has another feature so typical of her: she is extremely friendly and polite, always ready to help and has the ability to get along with everyone around her, making new friends quite easily. Married with two daughters, she is short in stature and still has a girlish face, always with a broad, infectious smile and she is a lot of fun.
