Château Marquis de Terme

In the centre of the village of Margaux-Cantenac, the historic property dates from the 1760s. It is built around a large courtyard and park, where an open air ‘Ginguette’ wine bar welcomes guests for events and tastings throughout the summer months.
Diversity

The 40 ha vineyard of Château Marquis de Terme is planted across the four main terroirs of the prestigious left bank appellation of Margaux. It’s a diversity of terroir and grape varieties that gives the signature elegance and complexity to the wine. Diversity is also the signature of the many services and activities they share with wine loving visitors. No surprise the won the 2023 Regional Best Of Wine Tourism Award in the Wine Tourism Services’ category in Bordeaux.

Pedal power

The chateau is close enough to the Margaux train station for visitors to make their way on foot. Then, they can use the chateau bicycles to discover the unique combination of soil and grapes for themselves, while cycling past the famous names of the appellation. Luckily the region is flat so it’s easy going for everyone. Follow the guide to benefit from their in-depth knowledge, learn how different viticultural techniques are adapted to each plot to produce the best grapes possible.

If you prefer to be free to discover Margaux at your own pace, rent one of the bikes for the day and head off on an independent adventure. The chateau has thought of everything from helmets to safety locks and of course a tasting when you return.

Tours of the chateau cellars explain their wine making techniques with an in-depth explication of the different methods and the range of wine making and ageing options from barrels to amphorae and wine globes. All the elements that come together to create a great wine.

Discover the results with a choice of tastings. It’s  a showcase for the diversity of wines and products of the region. The restaurant is in the original château with views across the vines of Margaux. From Wednesday through Friday, visitors can sample the excellent cuisine of Coutanceau, voted chef of the year in 2018. He is passionate about wine, winning the ‘Best Wine List’ award in 2019. It’s a passion he puts to excellent use here, organising monthly food and wine matching dinners in partnership with other classified growths from across Bordeaux, as well as exclusive food and wine experiences in the private 10 seater dining room
