El Puntido: Gastronomic Excellence in a Spectacular Setting

Restaurante El Puntido in Viñedos de Páganos, Laguardia, is a gastronomic paradise of Rioja Alavesa where you can enjoy a unique experience around wine and gastronomy. The wine pairing is exceptional, extensive, diversified and with the very high quality of the prestigious wines of the Eguren family.

The El Puntido restaurant at the Eguren family’s flagship winery, Viñedos de Páganos, aspires to the same level of excellence as the El Puntido wine brand. The restaurant brings together a fascinating combination of natural landscapes, a spectacular vineyard, and award-winning wines that merited a 2023 Best Of Wine Tourism award in the Restaurant category.

A vineyard, an award-winning wine brand and a gourmet restaurant

The El Puntido brand story dates from 1975, when Guillermo Eguren planted a 25 hectare (61,7 acre) high altitude tempranillo vineyard in the village of Páganos near Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa.  The first vintage from this vineyard under the El Puntido brand was bottled in 2001 and since that time, it has become one of Rioja’s most sought-after wines in Spain and abroad.

The restaurant looks out on the El Puntido vineyard, the majestic Sierra Cantabria mountain range and the villages of Páganos and Laguardia.  Chef Sandra Carvajal and her team offer guests two tasting menus – ‘El Puntido’ and ‘Calados del Puntido’ – with seasonal products locally and regionally sourced.  Both menus offer the option of pairings with wines from the Eguren group of wineries in Rioja and Toro.
